Women of Ideas: Feminist Thinking for a New Era
17 to 20 July 2007, Townsville, Australia
This gathering recognised the urgent need to promote women’s ideas, provide platforms for women to share their analysis of the world, and insist that women’s voices be heard alongside those of men in national and international arenas.
Our aims
- To promote a strong women’s and feminist global agenda.
- To resist the worldwide practice of silencing women’s voices.
- To bring the current themes of 21st century feminism into sharp focus.
- To provide a forum for feminists to discuss and analyse escalating acts of brutality around the world.
- To create an opportunity for every participant to experience solidarity with other women in the struggle against increasingly pervasive forms of oppression.
